Our Story

Hi there!

We are Amy and Eunica, a Kiwi and Aussie partnered up to bring you the very best nappies in the very best prints!

I, Eunica, started Alcmena in Australia in 2017 when my husband and I witnessed how many nappies a baby went through each day (10+ nappy changes!) and pictured the ever-growing landfill that these nappies were contributing to.

However, we saw that there was a gap in the market for

(a) super duper absorbent nappies that could last through the night and

(b) prints that would inspire more partners to get on board (my husband Kang was the executive design consultant on these)!

We researched, drafted, designed, brainstormed, tested (and so much more) for months before we came up with the perfect nappy with all the best features. Even then, we continue to tweak our nappy design to reflect the new advances in manufacturing as well as the changes in customer preferences. However, we still hear varying feedback from our customers - some love our v1.5 Pocket nappies, whilst others rave about the v3.5 Snap & Wipes!

I, Amy,  was introduced to Alcmena in my previous business, Tweedle Baby & Mum, as the NZ stockist for Alcmena.  I quickly fell in love with Alcmena for the fabulous prints, outstanding quality and exceptional customer service.

As the demand for cloth nappies and Alcmena has risen sharply in NZ recently, we realised that there is a need for Alcmena to properly establish a presence in NZ.  This will no doubt reduce the carbon footprint and high shipping costs as so many Kiwis were ordering direct from Australia.

We are positive you will find the perfect nappy for you. There are benefits to each version, and there is no right or wrong answer - it's simply what works best for you, and your baby.
